A v1 API key with the chat:read and chat:write scopes is all this extension needs. The key lives in your browser profile only — never synced, never sent anywhere except your Codebase API base.

Native desktop and mobile clients ship with one-click device-code login. The extension migrates when that lands.

Your API key is stored in chrome.storage.local. It is per-profile and never synced.
The extension only talks to the API base you configure — production by default.
No third-party telemetry. No analytics. No content scripts on arbitrary pages.
